Freightquote lures the unsuspecting consumer with an an apparently easy to use shipping calculator and then conveniently adjusts the cost once the shipping is in transit. This of course is unethical at best but bordering on fraudulent not to mention the shipping industry as a whole has 18 separate classes to pretty much ensure the user can't decipher the correct class and leave the window open for for many additional charges.

I naively used the calculator promoted by Freightquote to book a shipment and even though I put in exact weight/dimensions there was no pop-up/alert etc. that there might be additional charges. In fact my cost was doubled from 800 to 1600.00 to move one piece of weight equipment. I called customer service and they said I should have been "more educated" in making my choice.

So now you need an education to ship an item--what a load of rubbish. They provide as well as promote a calculator and they could have easily programmed the system to catch potential issues but they deliberately avoid that in order to charge unsuspecting customers extra fees.

Take my advice and don't use Freightquote--it is a complete scam with Freightquote and the shipping companies using deceptive practices to no doubt pocket extra cash at the expense of the consumer. You are warned--don't use Freightquote.

Reason of review: Pricing issue.

Freightquote Pros: Ease of buying the service online.

Freightquote Cons: Additional charges.

What class did you ship at? What is the commodity?

What NMFC did you use? Did you set it up or a rep at FQ?

I'm curious, did you call in to discuss your shipment with anyone prior to booking? That large of an adjustment sounds like a massive weight adjustment or sounds like you tried booking something at a class 50 because it looked cheaper rather than booking at the correct class. I've been in freight for 20 years, if you're mad about classing, take that up with NMFTA not an individual business.

Freightquote.com uses a low shipping rate to lure a potential shipper to commit to shipping with them, after which they then tell shipper that item was reclassified and that the dimensions were wrong. This their whole new criminal idea just started, it was not there before and that was why a lot of their old account managers left the company.

Shipping with Freightquote.com will not give you the good accounting record that you need to keep for your business because their shipping charges always go higher more than what was originally quoted, I mean real high.

Their target is your Credit Card and they have it on file. They have been burning me and I am getting ready to dump them.
